Jim Keenley is a founding partner of the firm and widely recognized expert in ERISA cases and financial elder abuse matters. He has served as lead counsel in numerous successful cases on behalf of disabled persons, retirees, and the elderly, obtaining judgments and settlements worth millions of dollars to his clients.
Jim is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley School of Law, where he served as the Co-Editor in Chief of the Berkeley Journal of International Law. He is the author of How Many Injuries Does it Take: Article III Standing in the Class Action Context, 95 Cal. Law Rev. 849 (2007) which was published in the prestigious California Law Review in 2007 and has since been widely cited by practicing lawyers, legal scholars, and jurists including in Witkin’s Summary of Constitutional Law, The New York University Law Review, the University of Chicago Law Review, the Missouri Court of Appeals, in briefs to the United States Supreme Court, along with many other treatises, academic journals, and trial court decisions.
Since law school, Jim has been in private practice focusing exclusively on representing the cause and interests of workers, the disabled, and retirees. He is devoted to providing smart, effective, and vigorous representation to those who need it the most against the biggest insurance companies in the world.
Outside of work, Jim spends his time raising his three children, playing softball, and riding his bike. He loves to garden, cook, and lift heavy things.
